Preview Countdown #7

August 5, 2013

The festival has a couple of ‘big hitters’ this year. Right throughout the festival at 7pm (BST) Chris Longmuir takes a detailed exploration of the crime genre in all its many guises. And at 10pm (BST) Roz Morris invites you to join her ‘Undercover Soundtrack’ where writers are engaged in a kind of Desert Island Discs, showing how music has influenced the writing of their work.

Crime Residency with Chris Longmuir

Missing Believed Dead Chris Longmuir with new bookThis comprehensive residency will interest both those who love the crime genre and those who have hitherto to ‘get into’ this most popular of genres. Chris has several crime books published (traditionally and digitally) and her novel Dead Wood won the Dundee International Book Prize.  During her residency Chris has ‘read around’ the genre and shares her views of  a whole panoply of books to give you an insight into what’s out there. Her slots range from Noir to Cosy Crime taking in just about every possible type of crime fiction available. A great place for you to find new crime writing.

Undercover Soundtrack with Roz Morris

RozMorrishighresAnd if, after all that crime, you want some music to soothe your ravaged breast at night, Roz Morris has opened up the door of her innovative and interesting site ‘The Undercover Soundtrack.’  Each night Roz has picked one of her personal favourites from the site. All it takes is a click of a mouse and you’re there.  Once you’ve experienced The Undercover Soundtrack at the festival we feel sure you’ll bookmark this site to go back to on a weekly basis as more and more writers explain how music influences their writing.
