Welcome to Previews

August 1, 2013

While you’re sitting around waiting for the festival to start… check out the Previews.

The festival starts on Monday 12th August, but this is where the countdown begins. Over the next 11 days we’ll prepare you for what’s to come so that you don’t miss a minute of the programme. We’ll be featuring the headliners and giving you a flavour of what else to expect. It’s never too early to start getting excited about what we’ve got in store. We’ll be giving you preview updates at 10am every day between now and the Grand Opening on the Glorious Twelfth.   That way you’ll be up and running by the time the doors open and won’t have to waste your time looking around sheepishly (not till Midday anyway, when you can get all sheepish with Derek the Weathersheep’s regular update from Honey Farm in Wales)

To get the most from the festival you can bookmark this page on whatever ereader/browser/piece of techno equipment you are going to be joining us from.

If you’re still wondering what it’s all about – visit our ABOUT page above. Or to find out who is ‘headlining’ check out the Who’s Who at the Festival page above.

How to stay informed throughout the festival.

We have over 170 separate event ‘slots’ in the next fortnight. That’s a lot of festival. So here are some simple ways to keep up to the minute and not miss out.

Don’t forget to Like our Facebook Page (you can click on the right hand page to do this)   This page gives you the opportunity to post comments AND more importantly to post your pictures for the ‘where in the world is my ereader’ competition. There’s a free ebook for every 10th Liker as well.  Each new event will be highlighted on Facebook so you can SHARE it with your network of friends and come mob handed to the events.

If you prefer email alerts of each event as it happens, right in your inbox , click on the right to follow us that way.

And if you like to do it in less than 160 characters you can follow us at twitter @ebookfest or #ebookfest

The early bird catches the worm. You heard it here first.

The photo competition – last year, quite spontaneously, festival attendees sent in pictures of their ereaders in a range of poses  and we thought it would be nice this year to get pictures of your ereader in action.  Wherever in the world you are and whatever you are doing (within the bounds of reason and decency of course!) when you’re taking part in the festival – take a picture of it. We want to see what those kindles, kobos, nooks, ipads, and smartphones get up to.  Post your submission on the Facebook page WITH A CAPTION and we’ll pick the our favourites for the gallery at the end of the festival. Who knows, if we really like your entry we might give you a free ebook!

The life writing residency – 12 lucky people will get the chance to participate interactively in this residency (though if you aren’t one of the ‘chosen’ you can still follow along and enjoy the virtual experience)   This will be announced LIVE at this site this afternoon at 2pm. Don’t forget to come back!

As you can see, there’s so much going on this year at the festival that you really should make sure you’re kept informed.  We don’t care whether you use smartphone, ereader, ipad, tablet, pc and we don’t care how you find us, but keep finding us!  We don’t want anyone to miss out and we hope you’ll all want to keep coming back for more.

Get ready for a fortnight of free fun – every hour of the day from 11am to 11pm.

Cally Phillips, Festival Director
